Fall prevention: 7 quick wins you can do today

familiesSafetyMobility

Small home changes that meaningfully reduce fall risk—especially in the bathroom, hallways, and at night.

Most falls are a chain of small issues (lighting + clutter + rushing + weak legs). Break the chain.

1) Night lights: bedroom → bathroom → hallway.

2) Remove throw rugs or use non-slip pads.

3) Clear ‘walk lanes’: cords, baskets, low stools.

4) Bathroom grip: a grab bar (not towel bars) and a non-slip mat.

5) Chair with arms: easier, safer sit-to-stand.

6) Shoes inside: supportive, non-slip soles (not socks).

7) ‘Slow is smooth’: remind your loved one to pause before standing.

If your loved one is falling or near-falling, we can help build a mobility routine and a safer day-to-day setup.
